Short Weekend Marlinspike Seamanship Courses

We are happy to be able to offer a weekend residential course in marlinspike seamanship, where you will learn the important knots and splices needed on a day to day basis at Sea, An introduction to sailmaking and working aloft on a square rigger.

You will stay onboard one of our tallships with your own cook and instructor.
Courses run from Friday lunch time through to Sunday late afternoon with a certificate of attendance awarded before departure.

Included within the course fee of £385.00 per person:

• Knife and spike to keep when you leave
• Sailmakers palm needles
• All meals and two nights accomodation.

The courses are informal and aimed at giving you a taste of what life onboad a square rigged vessel is like as well as teaching you some extreamly useful skills which you can then go away and refine. Its also an excellet taster to the longer able seamans course we run from March through to September each year.
