Alice in Wonderland, Walt Disney film studios were at Charlestown harbour for the week to film a new version of Alice in Wonderland. Directed by controversial director Tim Burton famous for iconic films such as Edward Scissorhands and the recent Sweeney Todd the new version is set to become another film classic. Johnny Depp is rumored to be playing the Mad Hatter which created an influx of female visitors to the harbor on the off chance of seeing Johnny.

The film crew started work Monday transforming the harbor to represent Victorian England. Working alongside Square Sails crew the production company transformed the quayside as well as the ships. The production created jobs for over 200 extras and brought welcome business to all the local Charlestown restaurants and pubs. Expected 2010.
