How To Apply

Applicants should be physically fit, have a valid passport and aged 18-50 years old.

Please go to the ‘Contact Us’ page on this website. Fill in your details (you must include your postal address) and click on the ‘Training Programme’ box only.

We will then post you an information package with application details.

When you have received this package, to assist you in submitting your application we offer the following guidelines:

1.      Read all the information we supply carefully and make sure you understand

         the implications.

2.      Complete forms A, B and C.

3.      Send the completed forms with your letter of introduction and four passport

photographs to us at our address above.

You can apply at any time and once we have your application in hand we will add your particulars to our file of Trainee Applicants. You will receive an e-mail/letter asking if you would like to register for the next available course. Once we have a short list of those who intend to register, we arrange interviews, preferably in person to assess your suitability and to introduce you to our ships, harbour facilities etc. If you live abroad we conduct a telephone interview.

Assuming the interview is mutually satisfactory, you may reserve a place in the training programme by paying the deposit (£500). Once registered you will receive all necessary information to facilitate your travel to Charlestown Harbour to begin the training programme. The balance of the fees must be paid in full before the start date of the course. The first few days of this programme are devoted to Orientation during which you will get to know your fellow trainees, permanent crew and staff, order any required equipment, clothing etc and attend introductory lectures.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail, letter or telephone.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Luca Melzer
